Two Spanish ministers said on Thursday that about 610,000 of the country’s 1.17 million migrants who applied to regularize their legal status have received temporary work permits while their applications are being processed.
The application campaign ran from April 16 to June 30 and offers a renewable one-year residence permit to undocumented migrants who had lived in Spain for at least five months before the end of 2025 and have no criminal record.
Secretary of State for Migration Pilar Cancela and Secretary of State for Social Security Borja Suárez said applicants are granted temporary work authorization during the review process.
They added that around 160,000 of the permit holders had secured formal employment by June 30.
