Sudan: Army Says It Repelled Joint RSF and SPLM-N Attack in Blue Nile State

The Sudanese army announced on Tuesday that it had repelled an attack on its positions in the Sali area of Blue Nile State, southeastern Sudan, carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their ally, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).

The army’s Fourth Infantry Division said its troops, supported by allied forces, successfully confronted the attack, seizing 15 combat vehicles and destroying five others belonging to the attacking forces.

The announcement followed a similar statement on Monday, when the army said it had repelled another attack in the Al-Baraka area, amid an escalation in military operations across the state in recent weeks.

The war between the Sudanese army and the RSF has continued since April 2023, leaving tens of thousands dead and approximately 13 million people displaced.
