The Syrian Interior Ministry announced it had thwarted what it described as a “terrorist” plot targeting populated areas around Damascus, after arresting a cell while it was attempting to set up Grad rocket launchers.

The ministry said the operation was carried out under a tightly coordinated security plan, with the launchers seized and suspects referred to judicial authorities.

Initial investigations reportedly revealed external links to the cell, and authorities released images of the confiscated equipment and the names of those involved.
