Nigerian police said on Tuesday that ten people were kidnapped late Monday in a village in Kwara State, western Nigeria, in the latest incident of abductions affecting the region.
Kwara State Police Commissioner Ojo Adedokun reported that “herders fired sporadic gunshots and abducted ten people” in the village of Esaba, noting that the victims include women and children, according to AFP.
The attack follows the abduction of 35 people in a nearby village last week; they were later found.
On Sunday, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu announced the rescue of 38 worshippers who had been kidnapped from a church last Tuesday in an assault that left two people dead.
