Macron: Netanyahu’s Gaza Policies “Shameful”, EU May Reassess Agreements with Israel

In a sharp statement, French President Emmanuel Macron described the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in Gaza as “shameful,” suggesting that the European Union may reconsider its partnership agreements with Israel.

Macron’s remarks come amid a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where civilians are enduring dire conditions due to the ongoing blockade and Israeli military operations. He added that the EU must take “a clear stance on the continued violations of human rights.”

EU foreign ministers are scheduled to meet on May 20 to discuss the potential revision or suspension of the EU-Israel partnership agreement, which is based on the principles of democracy and respect for human rights.

Netanyahu responded to Macron’s statements by calling them “a disgrace,” asserting that Israel “is defending itself and will continue its military operations, with or without France.”
