Libya: Death Toll from Tripoli Clashes Rises to 58 Amid Escalating Militia Violence

Armed clashes have flared once again in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, as fierce fighting erupts between the 444th Combat Brigade, affiliated with the interim Government of National Unity led by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and the Special Deterrence Force commanded by Abdulraouf Kara.

Libyan media reported Wednesday that the death toll from the ongoing violence has risen to 58, including at least six civilians. Several southern neighborhoods of the city have witnessed intense gun battles, causing widespread panic and disruption.

Citing medical sources, Libya’s Al-Masar TV said that 93 others have been injured since the outbreak of the clashes. The figures remain preliminary as sporadic fighting continues.

The renewed escalation highlights the fragile security environment in Tripoli, where rival armed groups continue to compete for power, undermining efforts by the central government to maintain control and restore stability.
