Former U.S. President Joe Biden Diagnosed with Aggressive Prostate Cancer

The office of former U.S. President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer following recent medical examinations prompted by urinary symptoms.

According to an official statement, Biden underwent tests last week that revealed a nodule in his prostate. A formal cancer diagnosis was confirmed on Friday, May 16, after further laboratory analysis.

The statement noted that the cancer’s severity was assessed using the Gleason score—a standard grading system for prostate cancer. Biden received a score of 9 out of 10, indicating a high level of tumor aggressiveness.

The former president has discussed treatment options with his family, and he is expected to begin therapy in the near future, the statement added.

The diagnosis comes amid Biden’s continued retreat from public life following the end of his presidency, and after months of speculation regarding his health.
