Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Monday that a new round of talks between Ukrainian and Russian delegations will take place in Turkey on Wednesday, July 23, focusing primarily on prisoner exchange.
In a video address, Zelensky said he discussed preparations for the meeting with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who confirmed that the talks are scheduled for Wednesday. Zelensky added that further details would be shared on Tuesday.
Earlier, Ukraine had proposed resuming negotiations with Russia this week as part of ongoing efforts to secure the release of more prisoners of war.
Russia and Ukraine have previously held two rounds of negotiations in Turkey, resulting in the exchange of thousands of detainees and the presentation of draft documents outlining each side’s approach to resolving the conflict, which began in February 2022.
