The U.S. Embassy in Libya on Friday dismissed as “false and inflammatory” media reports claiming that Washington is seeking to relocate residents of Gaza to Libya.

The embassy’s statement came in response to a report by the U.S. news outlet Axios, which earlier said that Mossad Director David Barnea had visited Washington to seek U.S. assistance in convincing third countries to accept hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

In its denial, the embassy emphasized that such claims are baseless and warned that spreading misinformation of this nature could incite public unrest.
