Iraq to Build Six Airports and 15 Industrial Cities as Part of Development Road Project

Iraq’s Ministry of Transport has revealed key outcomes of a recent meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani on the Development Road project, held last Wednesday.

According to the ministry, the project will include the construction of six airports and 15 industrial cities along the route, positioning it as a cornerstone of Iraq’s future economic infrastructure.

Meetham Al-Safi, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Ministry of Transport, said: “There have been ongoing meetings concerning the Development Road project, involving not only the Ministry of Transport but also other relevant institutions and international consultants, including the Italian firm BTB and economic advisor Oliver Wyman.”

The Development Road is considered one of Iraq’s most ambitious infrastructure initiatives, aiming to connect the country with regional and global trade networks.
