Syria’s Supreme Electoral Committee has postponed parliamentary elections in Sweida, Hasakah, and Raqqa due to ongoing security challenges, pledging to ensure fair representation once conditions allow.
The move follows President Ahmed Al-Sharaa’s approval of a temporary electoral framework under Decree No. 143 of 2025, setting the assembly’s size at 210 members—one-third appointed by the president and the remainder distributed based on population density.
