Three Killed in Fire at Indonesian Government Building Amid Protests

At least three people were killed on Saturday after protesters set fire to a local council building in the eastern Indonesian city of Makassar, authorities said.

The incident came as demonstrations spread across the country following the death of a motorcycle taxi driver who was struck and killed by a police vehicle during earlier protests.

According to Agence France-Presse, rallies erupted on Friday in major cities, including the capital Jakarta, after video footage of the incident circulated widely, fueling public outrage over low wages and privileges granted to government officials.

Authorities said investigations are underway, as calls grow to ease mounting public anger.
