Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission announced on Friday that preparations have been completed for the parliamentary elections scheduled for November 11, with the pre-election silence period set to begin at 7:00 a.m. local time on Saturday.

Spokesperson Jumana al-Ghalai told Anadolu Agency that special voting will take place on November 9, followed by general voting on November 11, noting that the commission is “fully prepared” to conduct the process as planned.

According to the commission, a total of 7,768 candidates are competing in the elections, including 5,520 men and 2,248 women, while approximately 21 million eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots to elect 329 members of parliament, who are responsible for choosing the president and approving the government.
