U.S. military says eight killed in strikes on suspected drug-smuggling boats in eastern Pacific

The U.S. military said on Monday that eight people were killed in strikes on three boats suspected of drug smuggling in the eastern Pacific, as part of an ongoing campaign that has so far left more than 90 people dead.

U.S. Southern Command said in a post on X that intelligence confirmed the boats were traveling along known drug trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific and were involved in narcotics smuggling.

It said three people were killed on the first boat, two on the second and three on the third.
