Egyptian Presidency sets “red lines” on developments in Sudan

The Egyptian Presidency announced on Thursday “red lines” that cannot be crossed or disregarded regarding ongoing developments in Sudan, citing concerns for Egypt’s national security.

The statement was issued on the occasion of Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan’s visit to Cairo.

It added that “Egypt is deeply concerned about the continued escalation and severe tension in Sudan, and the resulting massacres and blatant human rights violations against civilians, particularly in the city of El Fasher in western Sudan.”
