Néstor Gregorio Vera, leader of the largest dissident faction of the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), has called on other rebel groups to set aside their differences and unite against what he described as increasing U.S. military intervention in the region.
Vera, known by his nom de guerre Iván Mordisco, made the appeal following what he called a U.S. “incursion” into neighboring Venezuela that resulted in the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
In a video message, Vera appeared wearing camouflage clothing and flanked by two armed fighters, warning that “the specter of military intervention now looms over everyone without exception,” and urging armed groups to put their disputes aside at this sensitive stage.
