Britain said it has decided to allocate £200 million (about $270 million) to fund preparations for the possible deployment of troops to Ukraine, after pledging earlier this week to contribute forces to a multinational mission there if a ceasefire is reached.
The decision follows an agreement reached last Tuesday between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to issue a declaration of intent during a “Coalition of the Willing” summit of Ukraine’s allies.
The declaration outlines the framework for a potential future deployment as part of broader Western efforts to support Ukraine and help ensure the implementation of any ceasefire agreement.
