Political parties in Greenland affirmed their unity on Friday in the face of efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump to take control of the Danish territory.
In a joint statement, the five parties represented in Greenland’s parliament said: “We do not want to be Americans, we do not want to be Danes, we want to be Greenlanders.”
The parties called on the United States to end what they described as its “disrespect for our country,” stressing that “Greenland’s future must be decided by the Greenlandic people alone.”
