39 Dead in High-Speed Train Collision in Southern Spain

At least 39 people were killed, and dozens were injured in a collision involving two high-speed trains near Córdoba in southern Spain.

Police said the accident occurred when the rear carriage of a train traveling from Málaga to Madrid derailed and was struck by another train heading toward Huelva.

Regional authorities reported that 75 people were transported to hospitals — including 15 in critical condition — as rescue teams continued searching for survivors.

Spain operates the largest high-speed rail network in Europe.
