Curfew and Suspension of Flights in Eastern Libya Due to Severe Sandstorm

The emergency committee of the Libyan government affiliated with the House of Representatives imposed a comprehensive curfew on Tuesday and suspended several flights in cities and areas under its control in eastern and southern Libya, following a powerful sandstorm that has hit the country since Monday night, causing material losses.

The decision takes effect from the early hours of Tuesday until weather conditions improve, with exemptions for medical facilities and security services.

The Ministry of Water Resources also announced power outages affecting dams due to strong winds, while circulating images showed uprooted trees falling onto citizens’ vehicles.
