Marseille has joined other French cities in imposing a partial curfew after violence and looting linked to Yellow Vest protests on October 17.
French media quoted officials on Tuesday as saying the measure applies to people under 18 and will remain in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. local time until October 24.
Authorities had previously announced nighttime curfews in designated areas of other cities, including Paris, Lyon, Lille and Nice.
The measures followed protests over the rising cost of living that were marked by clashes with police, looting of shops and an arson attack on the historic city hall building in Limoges.
