Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday that it had intercepted and destroyed a missile allegedly launched toward Riyadh, along with a drone over the capital.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that two explosions were heard in the city shortly before the missile interception was announced, following a warning issued by authorities about a potential threat.
Saudi Civil Defense said in a post on the social media platform X that an alert had been activated through the National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies in Riyadh.
No further details were provided regarding the origin of the drone or any potential damage resulting from the incident.
