Unprecedented Floods in Tunisia Kill Five and Disrupt Schooling

Five people were killed in Tunisia following record rainfall that caused widespread flooding, particularly in the governorates of Monastir, Nabeul, and Greater Tunis.

The National Institute of Meteorology said the rainfall recorded over the past two days was unprecedented since 1950.

Torrential floods paralyzed transportation and led to the suspension of classes in 15 governorates.

The Tunisian Union of Agriculture also expressed concern after five fishermen went missing off the coast of Monastir, as warnings over worsening conditions continue.
