U.S. regulators are intensifying scrutiny on electric vehicle maker Tesla following reports of potential failures in its electric door handles, which could prevent them from opening during accidents and hinder rescue teams from reaching passengers.
For the second time in two weeks, Tesla is facing a lawsuit over these door handles, which are alleged to be inoperable from the inside during collisions, potentially leading to serious consequences.
A December Bloomberg investigation revealed that 15 people had died in traffic accidents due to rescue teams being unable to open Tesla vehicles’ doors after crashes.
