Several areas in northern Morocco were hit by floods on Wednesday after heavy rainfall, as authorities continued evacuation and rescue operations, the water ministry said.
The ministry said in a statement that flooding was recorded on the outskirts of Jerada province in eastern Morocco after water levels rose in the Moulouya river basin.
Videos shared on social media showed floodwaters sweeping through areas in the provinces of Tetouan, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane and Tangier in the north, as well as Jerada in the east.
Authorities said several road links were cut due to flooding, including routes between Tangier and Tetouan, as well as roads in Larache in the north, Kenitra in the west, and Sidi Kacem and Sidi Slimane.
Local authorities continued evacuating residents from affected areas as heavy rains triggered flooding across several regions.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
