Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have detained two oil tankers in Gulf waters, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday, without identifying the vessels’ flags or the nationalities of their crews.

Tasnim said authorities found more than one million litres of smuggled fuel aboard the two tankers.

The agency added that 15 foreign crew members had been referred to the judiciary, without providing further details.

There was no immediate comment from international maritime authorities or countries potentially linked to the vessels.
