Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban signalled he could cut energy supplies to Ukraine if Kyiv continues, as he put it, to obstruct the delivery of Russian oil to Hungary.
Speaking to Hungarian reporters in Washington on Thursday, Orban said Ukraine “receives a significant portion of its electricity through Hungary.”
“I do not want to threaten or pre-empt anything, but Ukraine receives a significant portion of its electricity through Hungary,” he added.
Orban accused Kyiv of attempting to stir unrest and engaging in “blackmail,” saying Budapest could consider “retaliatory steps.”
There was no immediate comment from the Ukrainian government.
