A powerful explosion was heard late Saturday near the US Embassy in Oslo, with no immediate reports of injuries, according to Norwegian police.

Police operations chief Michael Dillemire told Norway’s public broadcaster NRK that the blast affected the entrance to the embassy’s consular section, adding that the damage was minor.

“We will not comment on the nature of the damage, what exploded, or any further details because the investigation has just begun,” he said.

A large police presence was deployed around the embassy following the incident.

The development comes as US embassies in the Middle East remain on high alert due to the ongoing war, with several having been targeted in attacks amid Tehran’s responses against industrial and diplomatic targets.
