Thirty-two Bahrainis, including four seriously injured, were wounded early Monday after an Iranian drone attack targeted the Sitra area south of the capital Manama, while Saudi Arabia announced intercepting drones heading toward its territory.
Bahrain’s Ministry of Health said in a statement carried by the official BNA news agency that the attack resulted in 32 civilian injuries, including four severe cases.
The ministry added that all those injured are Bahraini nationals, including a 17-year-old girl who sustained serious head injuries and two children aged seven and eight who suffered severe lower-limb injuries. The youngest victim was a two-month-old infant.
Earlier, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry reported injuries among residents and damage to several homes in the Sitra area following the drone attack.
In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Defense said it intercepted and destroyed seven drones in the Rub’ al Khali desert that were heading toward the Shaybah oil field in the southeast of the kingdom.
The ministry also said in a separate statement that another drone was intercepted and destroyed east of the Al-Jawf region in northern Saudi Arabia.
