An explosion occurred near a synagogue in the eastern Belgian city of Liege late Sunday night, causing material damage but no injuries, police said.
A spokesperson for the Liege police said in a statement that the blast occurred around 04:00 local time outside the synagogue.
The explosion shattered windows of buildings along the nearby street but did not result in casualties.
French-speaking public broadcaster RTBF reported that a security perimeter was established around the area, with federal police expected to arrive to assist in the investigation.
The synagogue, built in 1899, now serves as a museum dedicated to the history of the Jewish community in Liege, according to its website.
