US President Donald Trump warned that NATO could face a “very bad future” if US allies fail to help ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

In an interview with the Financial Times published Sunday, Trump said he may postpone a planned summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this month as he pressures Beijing to help keep the vital waterway open.

“It’s appropriate that the people who benefit from the strait help make sure nothing bad happens there,” Trump said.
