Iranian authorities have announced that 24 healthcare workers have been killed since the start of U.S.-Israeli attacks on the country in late February.
According to Mehr News Agency early Saturday, the head of Iran’s National Emergency Organization, Jafar Miadfar, said the victims were killed while providing medical assistance to those injured during the military strikes.
In a related development, the death toll from an attack targeting the “B1” bridge in the city of Karaj, in Alborz province east of Tehran, has risen to 13.
The Iranian Students News Agency, citing Amir Hossein Daneshkohein, head of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs in Alborz, reported the updated casualty figures.
On Thursday, provincial authorities had initially reported that the attack killed eight people and injured 95 others, before the toll increased in subsequent updates.
