Iran warned on Tuesday that any ceasefire should not be extended without clear guarantees, signaling the risk of renewed escalation.
Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said the end of the ceasefire “must not become a pretext for extending it without firm assurances.”
According to Iranian media, Rezaei stated that opposing parties must choose between recognizing Iran’s rights, including its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, or facing the possibility of a return to war.
He stressed that Tehran would not accept any exploitation of the truce to launch new attacks or allow rearmament by other sides.
Rezaei added that Iran’s stance is aimed at safeguarding its national security and strategic rights, warning that “any violation of existing understandings could lead to renewed escalation in the region.”
