U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that extending the temporary ceasefire with Iran is “highly unlikely” if no agreement is reached within the current timeframe.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Trump indicated that the two-week truce would not be prolonged without tangible progress in negotiations.
He added that Vice President J.D. Vance will participate in upcoming talks in Islamabad on Tuesday, as part of efforts to reach a permanent deal.
Trump also noted that the blockade on Iranian ports will remain in place until a final agreement is secured, signaling continued economic pressure on Tehran.
The United States and Israel launched a war on Iran on February 28, which has resulted in more than 3,000 deaths. On April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan, aiming to pave the way for a lasting resolution.
