Croatia captain Luka Modrić has undergone successful surgery after suffering a fracture to his left cheekbone, the Croatian Football Federation confirmed.
The AC Milan midfielder sustained the injury following a collision with Juventus player Manuel Locatelli, forcing him off the pitch late in the match.
Despite visible pain, Modrić remained on the bench until full time without immediate medical treatment.
The Croatian federation said its medical staff remains in close contact with both the player and his club.
Head coach Zlatko Dalić expressed confidence that Modrić will recover in time for the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing his key role as team captain.
