British Prime Minister Keir Starmer faced his biggest leadership challenge yet on Wednesday amid growing unrest within the Labour Party and reports that Health Secretary Wes Streeting may resign.

According to The Times, Streeting could step down as early as Thursday in a move that may trigger a leadership contest for Number 10 Downing Street.

The developments came as Starmer and hundreds of lawmakers stood in Parliament to listen to King Charles deliver the government’s legislative agenda.

Following a brief meeting with Starmer, Streeting posted on X highlighting what he described as achievements in reducing waiting times within Britain’s National Health Service, writing: “A lot has been achieved, and there is still much more to do,” without directly addressing the resignation reports.

Starmer, meanwhile, attempted to downplay the political tensions, while the government program read by King Charles outlined plans to strengthen economic growth, energy security, and defense.
