Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said the United States is considering three possible approaches toward Cuba, including intensifying economic pressure to provoke domestic unrest, gaining influence over the country’s economy, or pursuing military action.
In an interview published on Monday by a Spanish news outlet, Díaz-Canel stated that one scenario involves tightening economic restrictions on the island to fuel social tensions that could later serve as a justification for U.S. intervention under the banner of humanitarian assistance.
His remarks come amid growing tensions between Havana and Washington following new U.S. sanctions and measures targeting Cuban officials and institutions earlier this year.
