The Iranian Football Federation has accused the United States of withdrawing its allocated ticket quota for Iran’s group-stage matches at the 2026 World Cup, claiming the move obstructs Iranian fans from attending the tournament.
In a statement, the federation said FIFA regulations require a percentage of tickets to be allocated to participating national teams for distribution to their supporters. It added that tickets for matches against New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt had already gone on sale before the allocation was allegedly revoked.
The federation said several fans had already made travel arrangements based on those tickets, calling the decision unexpected and disruptive.
Iran described the move as contrary to the principles of equality among competing nations and the spirit of international football, urging FIFA to intervene and ensure fair access for its supporters.
Neither FIFA nor U.S. organizers have yet issued an official response to the allegations.
The complaint comes amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States, which have also affected visa approvals and forced Iran to relocate its World Cup training camp to Tijuana, Mexico.
