U.S. Launches Strikes on Iranian Targets After Apache Helicopter Downing

The United States has carried out a series of military strikes against Iranian targets, saying the operation was launched in response to the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes were ordered directly by President Donald Trump and described them as a “proportional response” carried out under the right of self-defense against what it called an unprovoked Iranian attack.

According to a U.S. official, the operation involved three waves of strikes during the same night, targeting Iranian air defense systems, ground-control stations, and radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran, meanwhile, said it responded by targeting several U.S. military bases in the region. Iranian media also reported explosions in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, Sirik, and Jask in southern Iran.

CENTCOM later confirmed that the operation had concluded, stating that the strikes focused on surveillance, radar, and air-defense capabilities linked to Iranian military activities.
