Leaders of the Group of Seven began their summit in the French city of Évian on Monday, with meetings scheduled to continue through Wednesday amid European efforts to strengthen coordination with the United States on a range of international issues.
Discussions are expected to focus on the preliminary agreement aimed at ending hostilities between the United States and Iran, as well as its implications for security and stability across the Middle East.
French President Emmanuel Macron, who is hosting the summit, plans to promote an agenda that includes efforts to end the war in Ukraine, address global economic disruptions, and strengthen governance of the digital sphere.
Several Arab leaders are also participating in the discussions, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The summit takes place at a time of growing geopolitical and economic challenges, placing a number of pressing international issues at the center of the leaders’ agenda.
