The World Health Organization announced on Thursday, July 2, 2026, the launch of a clinical trial to evaluate potential Ebola treatments in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of efforts to contain the outbreak.

Government data released on June 30 showed that the number of confirmed Ebola cases in the country had risen to 1,333.

Authorities also confirmed 399 deaths in the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu as health officials continue responding to the outbreak.
