Ongoing wildfires in eastern Spain and southern France have forced thousands of residents to evacuate as extreme heat and difficult weather conditions continue.

Spanish authorities evacuated around 500 people from the Castellón area, while more than 10,000 people were evacuated in France after the fires spread across large areas near the Spanish border.

Authorities warned that strong winds and soaring temperatures could further intensify the fires.
