Preliminary results of Algeria’s parliamentary elections showed the National Liberation Front (FLN) leading the vote with 90 of the 407 seats in the People’s National Assembly.

The National Democratic Rally (RND) came second with 73 seats, while several opposition parties returned to parliament with a limited number of seats.

Voter turnout reached 21.24%, one of the lowest participation rates in the country’s parliamentary election history, according to the National Independent Election Authority.
