The *Wall Street Journal* reported on Wednesday that the Iraqi government has agreed to U.S. demands aimed at stopping the flow of U.S. dollars to Iran-backed groups.
According to the newspaper, the move is part of broader efforts to strengthen oversight of Iraq’s financial system and prevent U.S. currency from reaching entities subject to Washington’s sanctions.
The United States continues to pressure Baghdad to tighten controls over financial transfers and banking transactions.
