The Sudanese Army announced on Wednesday that it had regained control of the city of Kurmuk in Blue Nile State after clashes with the Rapid Support Forces and allied Sudan People’s Liberation Movement fighters.
The army stated that it had secured the city following intense fighting and inflicted heavy losses on the opposing forces.
Kurmuk is considered strategically important due to its proximity to the Ethiopian and South Sudanese borders, as well as its control of key military supply routes. The city had fallen to opposing forces in March.
