Yemen: Houthis Report 12 Killed in Saudi Shelling in Taiz

Yemen’s Houthi movement announced on Thursday that 12 people had been killed and three others injured in what it described as Saudi shelling targeting two houses in the Al-Barh area of Maqbanah district, western Taiz Governorate.

The Houthi-affiliated Saba News Agency quoted the group’s health authorities as saying that the three injured people were in critical condition.

The reported attack comes amid continuing fighting and conflicting accusations over the targeting of military positions and civilian facilities.

Separate reports also alleged the use of projectiles suspected of containing toxic substances, as well as attacks on ambulances and residential neighborhoods. These allegations have not been independently verified.

The developments come against a backdrop of deteriorating healthcare and humanitarian conditions, including shortages of medical supplies.

The Yemeni government has intensified diplomatic efforts with the United Nations and other countries, calling for the protection of civilians, unhindered humanitarian access, and accountability for alleged violations.
