Iranian state television announced that funeral ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will begin in Tehran on July 4 and conclude with his burial in Mashhad on July 9.
Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization has imposed temporary flight restrictions during the mourning period.
Khamenei was reportedly killed in Israeli and U.S. airstrikes at the end of February, while his son Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the position of Supreme Leader in early March, becoming the Islamic Republic’s third supreme leader since the 1979 Revolution.
