The fifth round of negotiations between Lebanon and the Israeli Occupation began at the U.S. State Department in Washington, focusing on security and political issues related to southern Lebanon.

Media reports indicated that both delegations are discussing the possible transfer of responsibility for certain areas from the Israeli military to the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The talks come as Israeli military operations and territorial control in parts of Lebanon continue despite recent regional understandings aimed at reducing tensions.
