Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Thursday that he will not take orders from a “foreigner,” responding to a message from U.S. President Donald Trump imposing a 50 percent tariff on Brazil.
Trump attributed the tariffs, set to take effect in August, to Brazil’s treatment of former President Jair Bolsonaro and what he described as unfair trade practices by Brazil against American companies.
