The attorneys general of New York and New Jersey have issued an official subpoena to FIFA following reports and media investigations alleging manipulation of fan seating allocations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
New York Attorney General Letitia James and New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport confirmed the launch of a comprehensive investigation into excessive ticket prices, alleged consumer confusion, and ticket sales practices related to eight matches scheduled to take place in New Jersey, including the tournament final.
The legal action follows complaints from fans who claimed they paid for first-category tickets but were assigned second-category seats, while FIFA has declined to comment on the allegations.
